Yamaha began as a musical reed and organ company in 1887, in which it became a world leading manufacturer of musical instruments. In 1955, Yamaha began manufacturing motorcycles for sale in Japan. Three years later, it introduced its motorcycle line to the United States. In 1968, Yamaha introduced it's first off road motorcycle, followed by the introduction of its first snowmobile line that same year. In 1980, Yamaha introduced it's first All Terrain Cycle (ATC), and its popularity led to the 4 wheel ATV which it introduced 4 year later in 1984. Today, Yamaha remains a dominant figure in the Powersports industry divisions in motorcycle, ATV, personal watercraft, golf cart and power products.
